Details:
Fabric:
100% lightweight (5.3 ounce) Japanese Linen in black. 4.25 yards of linen are used in the construction of this apron dress.
Also available in Indigo Chambray.
Size: Free (one size fit's most) Extra yardage and long ties to accommodate a multitude of body types. Model is 5'9" 140lbs.
Fit: Apron dress goes on easily over head with a large opening. The back ties to front and front ties to back for full coverage should you choose not to wear a shirt under...we choose to wear a shirt under.
Pockets: ALWAYS and generously sized.
Care: Linen becomes softer and more absorbent after each wash! Wash on low temperatures in lukewarm or cold water with like colors. Use the gentle machine cycle and a mild detergent to protect the fibers. Feel free to tumble dry on low temperatures. Remove from the dryer when still slightly damp to avoid the linen becoming stiff, and hang or lie flat to finish off the drying process. Iron...only if you can't live with yourself if you don't.
Styling: We've styled this with the sweetest peach vintage top and a pair of Zkano socks, but we also love a simple linen button-down for fall. For winter and holiday, switch up the lightweight button-down with a colorful flannel shirt and a light vest for warmth. Any look you style can go seamlessly from Japanese Clear Soup making to an afternoon lecture with artist Katherine Sandoz. Our Culinary Salon Collection of apron dresses are meant to go from kitchen to street and look noteworthy in either setting.

Inspired by Setsuko...a lively soul, woman who brings her own sheets when she stays over, sharp dresser, excellent cook, devout buddhist, Rottweiler mom and aunt to our founder.

What you need:
1 tablespoon sesame oil
2 medium Vidalia or other sweet onions, peeled and cut into wedges
2 large carrots, diced
cloves garlic, peeled and smashed
2 inch nob of fresh ginger, sliced
12 cups vegetable broth
4 cups water
4 whole scallions, chopped
10 wild mushrooms, thinly sliced
Flake sea salt
Coarsely ground black pepper

What to do:
In a large heavy bottom pot over medium-high heat, add oil, onion, carrots, garlic, ginger and a heavy pinch of salt and pepper. Cook, stirring, until vegetables are caramelized (about 5 minutes). Pour in broth and water. Bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer for at least one hour.

Remove the vegetables from the broth with a skimmer or strainer. Season broth with salt to taste and return to heat to reheat.
